Founded by Owner & Designer, Dana Schoonover, the Never A Wallflower Foundation provides a $20,000 scholarship and mentorship program for graduates of Livingston Academy High School in Livingston, TN. When evaluating applications for the program, priority is given to students who will be the first in their family to attend college, and students who are leaving the surrounding area to attend college.
Statement from Dana: "The town I grew up in, Livingston TN, is very small and very rural. Almost 33% of kids live below the poverty line, and less than half go on to a 4 year college after graduation. In creating the Never A Wallflower Foundation, I hoped to not only provide aid in the form of a monetary scholarship, but fill a bigger need in my opinion: connect these kids with people in their field of study through a mentorship program. The mentorship program is an invaluable part of our scholarship because it gives our recipients the perspective of people who have done what they want to do after graduation as well as people to call on for job and internship opportunities."
